Jarhead
Had a totally chilled out weekend, didnt really go anywhere at all. Had a good night out on friday with a load of people from work which was nice. Though my yahoo messenger is giving me alot of problems, freezing the screen, I heard other people were having the same problems.
Went to see Jarhead this evening, pretty interesting film, worth a watch. Originally I was concerned that it might be yet another film to jump on the anti-US foreign policy band wagon, but it was actually pretty balanced and almost un-biased view, from a soldiers perspective, though you do have to hope the US soldiers are a little more professional in reality.
Dreary Weather
Had a good weekend, went down to my parents house for my Dads birthday, bought him a restored version of Metropolis (1927, 2001 restore) and fith element hehe. Metropolis is an exceptional film in case anyone hasn't seen it out there. Although its both a silent movie and German, you can have english subtitles on. Its so far ahead of its time its shocking, not to mention the camera techniques that were pioneered in it.
Today, lunch time, as it drizzles outside all dark and miserable looking, I plan holidays. Hoping to go to asia, landing in Thailand first, seems to be the main hub. The original idea was then to go to Laos, however the list of illnesses is more than a little off putting. However I did find a great site with some brilliant photos from Laos and Thailand not to mention a host of other countries. There are some great wallpaper pictures on there including the one I am using now, the Laos picture of the sun set.
And thanks to Mr Searle for sending over a couple of old pictures from Uni, I have added them to the University section, within old skool on the gallery section of the site now here. I can't believe how young both I and Mark Robinson look in it! Anyone who went to Mark and Ian's shindig in the first year may also recognise the second new picture!
First week back
First week back finished already! Time certainly flys when working again. Heading back over to my parents for the weekend for my Dad's birthday tonight, hopefully he will like the pressies !
Hopefully my sister will be able to find her way here, her sat nav just managed to direct her to the barriers at the bottom part of the area I live in, that you cant get through without a pass, a slight oversight on their behalf hehe.
2006
New year ! again, wasn't it just summer a minute ago? Had a good time over at Gregg and Julia's place for new year, had a fair few drinks, as the pictures show.
Back at work now and its pretty busy, lots to be keeping on top of which is cool. Other than that not a great deal going on.
Though seriously intending to get my shotgun licence sorted out as soon as possible, so I can go clay pigeon again.
