BBC Derby Children in need bike run

Posted in Biking, Cars and Bikes on October 25th, 2011 by iyoung – Be the first to comment

Had a great time over at the BBC Derby Children in need charity motorbike run at the weekend. There must have been around 500 bikes in total accompanied by the Blues Brothers car which was blasting out music.

We rode from CMC in Clay Cross over to Derby via some nice winding country roads, unfortunately a few too many traffic lights.

Unfortunately I heard the sad news about Marco Simoncelli, someone came over and told me which was so shocking I didn’t really concentrate properly after that. But all in all it was a great event and I will definitely be doing it next year.

Had another good year at the Pedal for Pounds event up at Harewood House this year. Lots of whisking around putting up banners and signs and signing cyclists in and out.

It is a long day but feels really good to be helping out at a charity event. Hopefully the cyclists managed to raise a lot of sponsorship for Yorkshire Cancer research.

As always the Ambulance guys were funny and helping out lots.

Hopefully at some point in the future I can get another bike and start taking part in these kinds of events.

Hopefully as a visitor to this site you can have a quick look at the Yorkshire Cancer research website (www.yorkshirecancerresearch.org.uk/) and see if there are any similar events you fancy?
